Recommendations, Regulations, and Permit Applications

Permit applications

GGFPD Burn Permit application

Jefferson County Permit for Open Burning

Before having an open burn on your property, you must obtain a Burn Permit from Jefferson County and the GGFPD. Please read this form for the burn guidelines and fill out the attached questionnaire in order to obtain a GGFPD Burn Permit. There is a $50 fee.

Off-Site Fire District Advisory Letter
(Driveway inspection) $150

Jefferson County Department of Planning and Zoning (DPZ) requires that all new construction and additions over 400 square feet obtain an “Off-site Fire District Advisory Letter” (FDAL) from the fire district. “Off-site” is the portion of a private road access that is not on your property and crosses other people’s property. As per county regulations, it is not necessary to obtain an FDAL for the on-site portion of your access. In the past there has been considerable confusion as to when a FDAL is required. We strongly suggest you contact the county and verify that your access requires a FDAL. Hopefully this will help prevent confusion, extra work and unnecessary expense. Thank you.
